Airfield Maintenance

Our tour of CVG’s working areas began in Airfield Maintenance, where many roles involve the operation of high-powered machinery in a safe and appropriate manner. Specific duties may include heavy equipment maintenance, snow and ice removal, groundskeeping, airfield signage and lighting, glycol conveyance, pavement repair and maintenance; year-round airfield maintenance, including garages, parking areas, and pavements.

Given the nature of the airport, opportunities to work various shifts are available, with some shifts offering differentials.

Public Safety

When visiting with the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting and Airport Police departments, we learned there is a huge need in Public Safety for firefighters and police officers regionally. Firefighters and Police Officers perform the traditional responsibilities of these roles in a unique airport environment.

Operations

The Operations team at CVG oversees the safety and overall functionality of the airport.

We observed Operations Agents carrying out several behind-the-scenes functions essential to the operation of the airport. In addition to monitoring weather conditions and traffic that could impact CVG flights and passengers, Operations monitors the entire airport for potential safety and security concerns, among several other responsibilities.

Applicants to the Operations department come from a variety of backgrounds, including military, educational, or professional experience.
